Dark chocolate up front, a bright fruit note in the middle, and butterscotch on the finish — Guatemala from Antigua is one of the more complete cups in the collection. It has the body of a darker roast and the fruit brightness of a lighter one, which makes it unusually versatile.

The story
Grown by smallholder farmers in the Antigua Valley — one of the most famous coffee-growing regions in Central America, enclosed by three active volcanoes (Fuego, Acatenango, and Agua) at 1,200–1,616 meters. The volcanic loam soil is mineral-rich and well-draining, which coffee plants thrive in. The varieties — Bourbon, Catuai, Caturra, and Typica — are all traditional Arabica lineages well-suited to this terroir. Fully washed and sun dried.
How to brew
Drip, pour over, French press, or espresso — this is one of the most versatile coffees in the collection. Medium grind for drip and pour over; fine grind for espresso, where the dark chocolate and butterscotch notes concentrate beautifully. At 1:2 espresso ratio, it produces an excellent shot with natural sweetness and no need for sugar.
Why it's in our collection
Guatemala represents what the founder calls the "reference medium roast" — the benchmark coffee that shows what a medium roast should achieve: clear origin character, full body, and a clean finish without any roast bitterness.
